Kristo And Soreca Discussed Resolving The Problems Of BiH Transporters

The Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Borjana Kristo, yesterday spoke by phone with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to BiH, Luigi Soreca, regarding serious disruptions in the smooth flow of goods and the functioning of international transport, caused by blockades at border crossings towards the EU.

Soreca informed the Chairwoman about the new visa strategy of the European Commission, by which professional truck drivers were for the first time recognized as a special category, as well as that on February 3rd, a meeting will be held of all ministers of the Western Balkan countries (WB6) with representatives of the European Commission.

Considering the significant damage and financial losses currently being suffered by the economy of BiH, as well as the entire region, and taking into account the fact that the EU has already launched institutional processes for the urgent resolution of this issue, a joint call was sent to the Consortium of Transporters for a constructive approach in resolving the problem we are all facing.

“Our shared interest is the smooth flow of goods and the preservation of economic stability. The Council of Ministers remains fully committed to resolving this issue in partnership with the EU,” Kristo said, as announced by the Council of Ministers of BiH.
