Kuwaiti Investors increasingly interested in BiH

Halilović klix.baEmbassy of BiH in Kuwait has been continuously working on the promotion of BiH with the aim of attracting foreign investments to BiH, stated the Ambassador of BiH to Kuwait Mehmed Halilović.

Ambassador Halilović recently attended the signing of memorandum on the construction of the Outlet Center in Ilijaš. The project foresees a modern center with 97 retail stores that will sell products of many world brands at competitive prices and 63 residential units, with more than 300 workers.

Special focus of interest of the Kuwaiti businessmen, as it is already known, are real estate, infrastructure, agriculture, industry and education. There are many Kuwaiti citizens who purchase land and houses through BiH companies owned by Kuwaiti people, thus coming into possession of real estate in BiH.

Ambassador Halilović, who is the Ambassador of BiH to Kuwait since September 2015, assessed the previous bilateral cooperation with Kuwait very well, noting that there is space for significant improvement of economic cooperation of the two countries.

Halilović also stated that one Kuwaiti man is working on opening a Bosnian restaurant in Kuwait, as well as that the idea is being considered about opening a supermarket that will sell BiH products. Moreover, interest was expressed in import of meat and white wood that is used in construction from BiH.

Potential for cooperation exists, Halilović emphasized, and an obstacle is that there is currently no direct flight between Kuwait and Sarajevo.

Ambassador Halilović stated that there is mutual interest in improving economic cooperation, which was confirmed at the fair organized last year by the Embassy, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Kuwait and the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH. In the context of the upcoming activities, Halilović pointed out the initiative of Kuwaiti businessmen to organize a fair where potentials of BiH would be presented.

“Ambassador of BiH to Kuwait does not have a problem with presenting BiH. Gatherings and informal meetings at which businessmen and friends meet and negotiate large plans are being held in Kuwait almost on a daily basis. BiH is recognizable in all those meetings,” Halilović said.

According to Halilović, the Kuwaiti people love to travel, which gives an opportunity for BiH to benefit through tourism.

In addition to trade and economy, Ambassador Halilović believes that culture and education are important and interesting fields for future cooperation between Kuwait and BiH.
