Vije?nica-Sarajevo1One of the most represented buildings in Sarajevo, City Hall, will open its doors to citizens once again in one year.

The facility, which recently received its authentic façade and decorations, the last phase now is the interior design that is already underway.

“By 4 May of next year this phase will be finished, and this deadline should not be breached. Works inside City Hall, for which “Unigradnja” is engaged, is financed by the EU from IPA funds for five million euros’’, said Hasan Ibrahimpašić, the Director of the company “Safege-Bosnia”, which is supervising the construction site.

According to him, the complete interior will be done according to the original layout that the City Hall had until the evening between the 25th and 26th of August 1992 when it was burned.

“This magnificent edifice will once again have the same plaster and painting decorations, as well as furniture, tables, benches…The space will be enriched by new lighting and air-conditioning, which earlier did not exist. The central staircase leading from the hall to the gallery, where once was the main reading room and the main archive with books, will be luxuriously made, and the beauty of the stones will seize the attention of visitors. The windows were already made at an earlier stage, and the construction of doors is underway, from which 150 have already been finished’’, explained Ibrahimpašić.

All activities are supervised by the European Union, which insists that everything is attested to and of good quality. Due to the scope of the work, there will be around 50 workers at the beginning of the construction season.
