Lazar Peurača is Winner of the Spelling Bee Contest

Spelling bee2Finale of National Spelling Bee contest in the English language was held in Sarajevo yesterday.

First place with the successful spelling of the word “quintessential” and iPhone 6 as a prize, won Lazar Peurača from Gymnasium Banja Luka. Mirsad Ember from Gymnasium Bugojno won the second place and an iPad, and Branislav Pušara from Gymnasium Banja Luka won the third place and the iPod.

Competition where 18 finalists from across B&H competed for the title of best “Speller” words in English, was opened by the US Ambassador to B&H, Maureen Cormack, who sent words of support to finalists and said that they are among the best in B&H.

“To be successful in spelling, as people that this is not the native language, is requiring much more than just a talent. The success requires persistence and a lot of work and exercise,” said Cormack.

She recalled that the Spelling Bee competition is very popular in the United States and that millions of people are watching TV during US National Spelling Bee competition.
