Lazzarini accused Israel of preventing Humanitarian Aid from reaching Gaza

The head of the UN aid agency for the Palestinians, Philippe Lazzarini, accused Israel of preventing humanitarian aid from reaching the war-torn north of the Gaza Strip.

“Israeli authorities continue to deny humanitarian missions from reaching the north with crucial supplies, including medicine and food for people under siege,” wrote Lazzarini, head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The injured could not be cared for because the hospitals did not have electricity after the attack, he wrote.

“The remaining shelters are so overcrowded that some displaced people are now forced to live in toilets,” he pointed out.

Lazzarini called for humanitarian organizations to be granted access to the northern part of the Gaza Strip, including UNRWA.

“The refusal of humanitarian aid to achieve military goals is a sign of how low the moral compass is… The ceasefire is the beginning of putting an end to this endless nightmare,” he wrote.
