Leaders of the two strongest Parties: One is modest Pensioner, the other is unemployed

The political scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has always been particularly interesting, dynamic and at times entertaining. It is the same today, when we have intense processes and an even more intense crisis, especially in the Bosniak political spectrum.

In this context, it is interesting to single out the position of the two leaders of the two strongest parties, SDA and SDP.

Bakir Izetbegovic (SDA) and Nermin Niksic (SDP) are currently on opposite political poles. The struggle for power in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) takes place on the one side between the SDA and its partner DF, and on the other side the extended Trojka, led by the SDP.

The trench battle for power in the FBiH was transferred to the level of the FBiH leadership and the majority in the FBiH Parliament. And at the head of the aforementioned two parties are two men who currently do not have any functions, except party ones.

Izetbegovic told on Wednesday night that he has been retired since two days ago, and previously it was known that he did not run for any position, not even for the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, where perhaps it was expected.

“I listen to my inner voice. I felt bad during my previous term in the House of Peoples. I don’t feel like sitting there anymore. I am a pensioner since two days ago with a solid pension. I live very modestly. I don’t need a lot of money. I haven’t taken the annual vacation for a while, I have some savings,” said the SDA leader, among other things.

So, the head of the SDA is a pensioner, who, according to his statement, is tired of sitting on the parliamentary benches. He says that he lives modestly, although the concept of modesty should be analyzed in detail because it really depends on how Izetbegovic perceives the concept of modesty. Even if we would believe that he lives modestly, the fact that his wife drives a car worth several tens of thousands of BAM is not in his favor. But that’s another topic.

On the other hand, his colleague from the SDP, Nermin Niksic, is currently unemployed. Since the end of his mandate in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, Niksic has not held any office, except for the party, where he probably has no income.

Niksic is waiting for the executive function of FBiH Prime Minister, and judging by the current political situation, there is no imminent resolution of that saga, so we could still see the leader of the SDP as an unemployed politician. Niksic did not comment on whether he lives modestly, but so far he has not complained or explained how he has been living for the past months without income, Klix.ba reports.
