The record label of rapper Eminem is suing the company, Meta, claiming it used hundreds of his songs on its platforms Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp without permission, and is seeking 109 million dollars (187.02 million BAM) in damages.

Eminem’s company Eight Mile Style has accused the tech giant of copyright infringement and is seeking damages of 150.000 dollars (257.362 BAM) per song, totaling over 109 million dollars.

In the lawsuit filed in a Michigan court, the record label stated that Meta made 243 Eminem songs available on several of its platforms without authorization.

It added that the recordings were then used without permission in millions of videos and streams, including through Reels Remix and Original Audio.

A Meta spokesperson said that the company had wanted to reach a deal “in good faith” with Eight Mile Style over the use of Eminem’s songs, but that they decided to file a lawsuit instead of continuing negotiations.

In the lawsuit, the company stated that Meta had attempted to obtain the rights to use the rapper’s songs, but was denied.
