The plan, which leaked from the White House, about turning Gaza into a luxury Riviera full of technological megacities with the aim of covering up the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population, has caused a storm of reactions around the world.
United States (U.S.) media published on Sunday a 38-page prospectus titled “Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust” (abbreviated Great), which foresees the forced displacement of all residents of Gaza for a period of at least ten years.
It is stated that the plan was developed by Israeli actors with the help of Boston Consulting Group, and the territory would be placed under U.S. jurisdiction.
The document proposes “temporary relocation.” Gaza residents would be resettled in temporary camps inside or outside the region, while the territory would be transformed into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” Each displaced Palestinian would be offered 5.000 dollars, subsidies for rent, and basic necessities for one year.
Philip Grant from the Swiss organization Trial International warned that those who participate in the planning and implementation could bear legal responsibility for decades.
Even Israeli media reacted with disbelief. One Israeli media outlet described the project as “Trump’s enrichment scheme relying on war crimes, artificial intelligence, and tourism.”
According to the prospectus, Gaza would be transformed into a futuristic port city with eight megacenters inspired by the Saudi project Neom. The plan includes an “Elon Musk industrial park” and a large expropriation of agricultural land, which would be turned into an Israeli security buffer zone.
The document does not foresee the existence of a Palestinian state, but rather a “Palestinian political community.”
