All of Lebanon was left without electricity after the last production plant of the “Az-Zahrani” power plant that remained online stopped due to a lack of fuel, the Lebanese electricity company announced.
Former adviser to the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Raja al-Ali, previously told RIA “Novosti” that the power plants in Lebanon could stop completely in the coming days due to the lack of fuel reserves in the country.
The problem of electricity supply in Lebanon dates back to the civil war of 1990.
Before the economic crisis began in October 2019, the population in various cities and regions had electricity from 12 to 18 hours a day, and after the outbreak of the crisis, the power supply was reduced to two to eight hours a day.
During periods when there were no fuel reserves in Lebanon, the country was completely without electricity for several weeks.
