europaBA_dokumetarniWhat is it like to live in the European Union (EU)? How easy is it for people living in the EU to start their own businesses? How different is it to study in the EU compared to studying in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H)? How do consumer protection rights differ in the EU compared to those in B&H?

The answers to these and more can be found in the new television documentary series ‘Life in the Union’ that starts from today on 26 television channels in B&H.

‘Life in the Union’ is produced by MITA Group on behalf of the Office of the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) in B&H, with the co-operation of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) of B&H (BHT, RTRS and FTV) and 23 regional, cantonal and local TV stations across the country.

Each of the seven episodes lasts ten minutes and focuses on EU policies and practices seen through the experiences of people from B&H and the Western Balkans region living in EU Member States.

The EU Special Representative in B&H/Head of Delegation, Ambassador Peter Sorensen said:

“The EU is about its people. The integration of B&H into the EU is therefore designed to improve lives of B&H citizens. These seven TV documentaries provide evidence from everyday life that reform is needed in many different areas in order for B&H citizens to benefit fully from the integration process. They also underline that EU practices and policies have helped people to develop their business, advance their education or exercise their rights.”

The first documentary will look closely at consumer protection in the EU, including control of product quality, different mechanisms that regulate return of goods and ways in which consumers are informed about their rights.

Remaining documentaries in the series will focus on agriculture, education, protection of the environment and efficient use of energy, rule of law and fight against corruption, small and medium businesses and transport.

Broadcast times for episodes on the PBS of BiH, regional, cantonal and local television stations broadcasting schedule are available on: http://europa.ba/documentary.aspx?lang=BS

Episodes will be available on this page following broadcast as well as on the official EU in BiH YouTube channel www.youtube.com/eubih and Facebook page www.facebook.com/europa.ba
