12404661_1138476672869954_825611401_nOn the Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord, when the Christians mark the day of Christ’s death on the cross, the Archbishop Metropolitan of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljić led the liturgical ceremonies of the Good Friday at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Sarajevo, with participation of the military bishop in BiH Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, assistant bishop of Vrhbosna Msgr. Pero Sudar, and a large number of priests, nuns, seminarians and believers. Liturgical ceremonies were held on March 25 in the evening hours.

The ceremonies began with prostration (lying on the floor) of Cardinal Puljić, while everyone else knelt and prayed in silence before the cross veiled in purple cloth. Everyone in the Cathedral was thinking of the Christ’s passion and death on the cross, as well as about the pain they cause to Jesus with their sins.

Congregation very attentively followed the reading about the Servant sufferer from Isaiah’s book and an excerpt from the Letter to the Hebrews in Christ the high priest who “sympathizes with our weakness” and who is “accustomed to listen in passion”. They were listening to the sung Passion of Jesus according to Mark with great empathy. Cardinal Puljić sang the words of Jesus, words of the readers were sung by deacon Ljubo, and other roles were sung by the Theological choir “Stjepan Hadrović”.

In his sermon, Cardinal Puljić commented on some moments from the proclamation of the Passion of Christ and reminded of the question that Jesus posed to those who came to arrest him: “Who are you looking for”, reminding that, after the answer by Jesus, they all fell to the ground.

Cardinal Puljić added that the Christians nowadays should also wonder: who are they looking for and why are they looking for Jesus?

“May the fear be born in us that will throw us to our knees in humility. Thinking about the passion of Jesus, think about who we are looking for and is Jesus on the first place for us,” Cardinal Puljić said.
