Longtime Human Rights Activist Branka Inić passed away

13023165_1158668120850809_685567410_nAn attorney and a longtime human rights activist Branka Inić passed away yesterday morning in Sarajevo.

Branka dedicated her entire life to justice and fight for justice. She graduated from the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo, and in the beginning of her career she was working in the Sarajevo daily newspaper Oslobođenje.

Inić was a member of the legal team of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights. During her career, she participated in the passing of many laws against corruption and discrimination, such as the Law Against Discrimination in BiH, the Law on Freedom of Access to Information, the Law on Gender Equality, and numerous other laws. Since 2013 Inić was the head of the legal team of the Anti-Corruption Network ACCOUNT.

Inić won numerous awards. In May 2005, the Government of the Netherlands made a film about her work no protection of human rights, which shows the social situation in BiH and the role of a human rights activist.

Time and place of the funeral will be timely announced.
