[wzslider autoplay=”true”]The building of the National Museum of B&H in Sarajevo yesterday was a place where the central celebration of 20 years of peace in B&H (the 20th anniversary of the Dayton Agreement) was held in the presence of numerous guests from the political, diplomatic, cultural, sports and public life.

There was a lot of young people among the guests, and the ceremony was dedicated to them.

Host of this festive manifestation was the US Embassy in B&H, headed by the Ambassador Maureen Cormack. Attendees were addressed by the member of the Presidency of B&H Bakir Izetbegovic as well as the Congressman of the US state of Ohio Michael Turner, who was mayor of the American city of Dayton at the time of historical negotiations.

The program was started with the minute of silence for the killed soldiers of the Armed Forces of B&H, after which the ambassador Cormack gave a welcoming address.

“We gathered in the newly opened National Museum to mark 20 years of peace in B&H, the period of peace which is leading to progress and to focus on the dreams of young people for their next 20 years. As President Obama said recently, the killing of innocent people is an attack on the civilized world, and while we are mourning together, we are determined that these acts will not undermine generosity of our spirit, said Ambassador Cormack, and emphasized: ” A whole new generation grows in 20 years, and B&H has its first generation in piece who graduated and now they are seeking for their place in the prosperity of this country. All of them are looking for a place to show their talent and knowledge. We must enable young people to take a leading role in this country. The future is happening now and you are creating it,” concluded the ambassador.
