Real Madrid, the current winner of the Champions League and the Spanish football champion, officially announced on Wednesday that the 38-year-old Croatian footballer Luka Modrić has signed a new contract for one season.

At the end of June, Modrić’s contract with “Kraljevski Klub” expired, but the official announcement that the captain of the Croatian national football team still remains a Real player was awaited, reports Hina news agency.

With Real, Modrić won as many as 26 trophies and played 532 games. He came to Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham. With Real, he won six Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, four Spanish La Liga titles, two domestic Copa del Rey and five Spanish Super Cups.

In total, he scored 39 goals in Real’s shirt, 28 of which were in league matches.
