French President Emmanuel Macron, in a telephone conversation yesterday with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, expressed his belief that Serbia “will find a way to reach dialogue” in which “the feelings of all will be respected and which will enable strengthening trust in institutions and Serbia’s progress on its European path,” the Elysee Palace stated.

The statement says that Macron reiterated to Vucic his “belief that Serbia’s future is European,” which he had stated in August last year in Belgrade.

“In this context, he expressed confidence in Serbia’s capacity to find, while rejecting violence on all sides, a path to dialogue that will respect the feelings of all, strengthen trust in institutions, and achieve progress on the European path,” the statement reads.

Vucic had previously announced on Instagram that in the telephone conversation, he informed Macron about the political situation and protests in Serbia and conveyed to him that he believes “dialogue is the only way out of the political crisis.”
