parkMaglaj was one of the cities that suffered the most in the floods that happened in our country in May 2014. Today Maglaj is almost fully recovered and more beautiful than ever.

After natural disaster and severe flooding that afflicted Maglaj in May 2014, this municipality made a plan of reconstruction and recovery at the end of the month of May same year, thus defining strategic goals and classifying them into 4 categories: public institutions, housing, construction of infrastructure and economy renovation.

By the funds of European Union and through the program for reconstruction of implementers of UNDP, all public institutions were renovated in Maglaj: Health Centre, two high schools, three primary schools, a kindergarten, the building of the Municipality of Maglaj, and the building of social work services. At the moment, building of the Cultural Center is in the process of renovation with the help of the European Union and the French Embassy, while the sports hall in Maglaj was reconstructed with funds provided by the Turkish Embassy.

“Public institutions were renovated functionally, but their functions were also further improved and certain improvements have been made, primarily in the area of energy efficiency where we conducted thermal facades cladding of buildings, windows replacement, systems replacement, fuel etc.” said Nermin Beslagic, advisor of the mayor of Maglaj for local development and entrepreneurship.

After constructional renovation of the building of municipality of Maglaj through the program of UNDP, the Swiss government allocated funds for the renovation of hall for customer service. The project cost almost 180,000 BAM, where complete replacement of furniture, equipment, record of attendance of employees, system of active waiting, and a number of other supporting interventions took place.
