Manchester United Cuts 200 More Jobs in Latest Round of Club Layoffs

English football club Manchester United will cut 200 jobs as part of a cost-cutting drive, the club said today.

United cut 250 staff in the first wave of cuts last year and are now set to cut another 200 in what the club calls a “transformation plan”.

“We have a commitment to taking United’s men’s, women’s and academy teams to the highest level. We are launching a series of measures to transform and rebuild the club,” said United chief executive Omar Berada.

United said it aimed to “return to profitability after five years of losses”.

“This cannot continue. Our two main priorities are to achieve success on the pitch and improve our facilities. We cannot invest in these objectives if we are constantly losing money,” Berada added.

“At the end of this process we will have a more financially viable club. We will be in a much stronger position to invest in footballing success and improvements to fan facilities, while remaining compliant with Uefa and Premier League regulations,” he said.

United are currently 15th in the Premier League, with a record of eight wins, six draws and 12 losses.
