Deputies of the ruling coalition in the Parliament of Montenegro today rejected the proposal of the opposition for a vote of no confidence in the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić.

44 deputies of the Europe Now Movement, the New Serbian Democracy, the Democratic People’s Party, the Democrats of Montenegro and the SNP spoke against the proposal of the DPS and its coalition partners for the dismissal of Mandić.

27 MPs of DPS, SDP, Social Democrats, Bosniak Party, Liberal Party, and Croatian Civic Initiative voted for Mandić’s dismissal.

“The proposal for the dismissal of Mandić was not adopted,” announced the vice-president of the Assembly Zdenka Popović, which ended today’s work of the Assembly.

In his final speech after the debate, Mandić said that citizens are less interested in “duels” in the parliament, but rather in the concrete actions delivered by the parliamentary majority and the government from 2020.

He said that the unpleasant scenes in the parliament are certainly not a good report for Brussels.

“All of us in this parliament, and more than 80 percent of the citizens, see Montenegro as a member of the EU,” Mandić stressed and added that everyone is trying in different ways to help Montenegro become a member of the EU as soon as possible.

The DPS submitted an initiative for the dismissal of Mandić because of the Serbian tricolor in the cabinet of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik to Podgorica, as well as the presence of Mandić on election night in the election headquarters of SNS Aleksandar Vučić, Srna news agency writes.
