A group of masked attackers intercepted a vehicle on the M-17 highway in the Potoci settlement this morning, attacked the driver, and then set the car on fire.

According to available information, several people wearing balaclavas stopped the car on the road, after which they damaged it using batons and flares, and then physically attacked the driver.

“The Mostar-North Police Station received an anonymous tip from citizens on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. that several masked people had physically attacked the driver of a passenger car, in which the driver was injured and his vehicle was set on fire,” confirmed to Fena the spokesperson for the HNK Ministry of Interior, Ilijana Miloš.

According to unofficial information, the incident was preceded by a chase involving three vehicles.

The police are currently searching for several suspects, and according to unofficial information, at least five people are involved. Also, according to the same sources, there is a suspicion that the attackers are connected to the fan group Ultras Mostar, while the person attacked is allegedly a fan of FK Velež Mostar. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

The injured driver, whose degree of injury is unknown, received medical attention, and upon arriving at the scene, police officers began to determine the circumstances and identify the assailant.

More details about this incident are expected after the police investigate and establish all the circumstances of the event.
