Mass Grave found in Syria’s Aleppo

A mass grave containing the remains of civilians executed by forces loyal to the ousted regime of Bashar al-Assad has been found in the village of Nakkarin in Syria’s Aleppo province.

Several mass graves have been found across Syria since the Assad regime was overthrown.

One of the mass graves was discovered by civil defense teams and police forces in the Aleppo area.

The Syrian state news agency (SANA) announced on December 29 that a mass grave containing the remains of civilians killed by the Assad regime had been found in the Hola region of Homs province.

It is estimated that there are many more mass graves in Syria that have not yet been discovered.

Bashar al-Assad, who was Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups captured the capital Damascus on December 8 last year, ending the rule of the Baath Party, which had been in power since 1963.

The change came after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters swiftly captured key cities in an offensive that lasted less than two weeks.

A new administration led by Ahmed al-Sharaa took control of the country, AA writes.
