The Medjugorje International Youth Festival “Mladifest 2020”, despite the coronavirus pandemic, gathered thousands of young Catholics from several European countries.

Young people from Poland, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Germany arrived at the opening ceremony of this year’s event, Avaz news portal reports.

As a large number of participants could not come due to epidemiological measures, the flags of 60 countries, the previous participants in this meeting, were symbolically carried.

All present were greeted by the Apostolic Nuncio to BiH Luigi Pezzeto, who conveyed the greetings of Pope Francis of Rome.

He thanked the organizers of the event, which, despite the coronavirus, gathered young people from all over the world and enabled them to participate in the Mladifest in Medjugorje via streaming.

This festival is traditionally held every year and gathers about 50 thousand young people from all over the world.
