Ambasador Casey i Dennis GratzBritish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina HE Nigel Casey welcomed Nasa Stranka President Dennis Gratz to the new British Embassy in Sarajevo today, announced the British Embassy in Sarajevo.

The focus of their discussion was on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s aspirations for EU membership. Ambassador Casey underlined that this was the best chance Bosnia and Herzegovina would ever get to bet the accession process started, and that failure to seize the opportunity would carry significant costs for the whole country.

Ambassador Casey urged all political parties to use the next week to reach agreement on implementation of the Sejdic-Finci judgement and on a new, efficient EU Co-ordination Mechanism:

The Brussels agreement has clearly defined the parameters of a solution to the Sejdic-Finci judgement. Now is the time to set aside options which clearly cannot command sufficient support in Parliament, and to use the limited time remaining until 10 October to focus intensively on defining in detail a solution which is implementable. Similarly, the main elements of a new, inclusive mechanism for EU co-ordination have been established, and now is the time to settle the few outstanding areas of debate. The EU stands united behind the efforts of EUSR Sørensen and Commissioner Füle to help facilitate agreement.’
