Meho Kodro is the new coach of the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The fifty-six-year-old received the unanimous support of the Executive Committee of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the suggestion of national team director Zvjezdan Misimović. This will be his second mandate on the bench of the BiH national team, where he succeeded Faruk Hadžibegić, who terminated his contract with NSBiH by mutual consent after poor results at the start of the qualifiers.
“We had the task of choosing a coach as soon as possible, and Misimović held the talks,” said NSBiH president Vico Zeljković at the official presentation of the new coach, adding that they did not want to talk about names earlier because it is not correct.
In his first address to the media, the new coach said that he has confidence in his quality and the quality of the players.
“We will do everything to try to qualify for the European Championship and to bring back the cult of the national team,” said Kodro, who in his coaching career, in addition to the national team of BiH, also managed Servette, Sociedad Lausanne and Sarajevo.
He will make his debut on the bench of the national team in September in the qualifying match against Liechtenstein.
