mektic3“I am extremely proud of our police officers from all police agencies who are representing B&H within the framework of peacekeeping missions,” said Minister of Security of B&H Dragan Mektic on the ceremony of awarding of certificates for the participants of training for police officers and military observers of the UN.

Commander of the Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) of the Ministry of Defense Jasmin Cajic said that with the closing ceremony of the UN police course, high level of professional cooperation between the two state ministries was demonstrated, between the Ministry of Security and Ministry of Defense.

“We had 18 police officers on this course from B&H, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia, and at the same time we had integrated part of officers of the Armed Forces of B&H who attended the course as future military observers,” said Cajic.

He emphasized that 205 police officers have been trained so far, who were or are planned to be in UN peacekeeping missions all around the world.

“These are the missions in South Sudan and Liberia, and military observers are often hired as UN observers in the Democratic Republic of Congo and similar places. An important aspect for us and Armed Forces of B&H is that, starting from the next year, we are planning to include civil society in the process of training. We consider that these three components, the police, army and civilians, can very significantly perform their mission which is entrusted to them in the conflict zones. This shows the commitment of B&H towards Euro-Atlantic integrations,” concluded Cajic.
