Member of BiH Presidency Komsic met with US Ambassador Murphy

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić met today in Sarajevo with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael Murphy.

As Komšić wrote, the meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on key political and economic issues, as well as the overall situation in our country.

“We discussed further steps and reforms that are necessary for the stability and progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special emphasis on the rule of law, the fight against corruption and the improvement of political dialogue among key political actors in the country,” Komšić said.

As a reminder, Murphy is due to leave BiH by the end of January, and his position was initially to be filled by Douglas D. Jones, according to the proposal of former US President Joe Biden.

Jones went through several stages of the diplomatic process, but due to the change of government, namely the fact that presidential and legislative elections were organized in the US, this procedure was stopped and returned to the White House, which was taken over by Donald Trump.

Of course, Jones could still be an official proposal if Trump sends him to the US Senate, but it is difficult to expect the president-elect to agree to the appointment of his predecessor, whom he often criticized.
