BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Roman Hloben.

The conversation focused on current political and security issues in the country, as well as bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Slovak Republic.

During the conversation, Bećirović informed the ambassador about current political and security developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He particularly emphasized that the authorities of the RS entity, with their unilateral and unconstitutional moves, are continuously and seriously threatening peace and stability in the country, as well as the normal functioning of institutions.

He recalled that he had recently submitted a request to the Constitutional Court of BiH for the assessment of the constitutionality and annulment of the Conclusions of the RS National Assembly regarding the final verdict against the former President of the RS entity, Milorad Dodik.

He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to fulfilling its strategic goals, including membership in NATO and the EU, and that the support of partners, including the Slovak Republic, is of key importance in that process.

The Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, Roman Hloben, emphasized that the Slovak Republic recognizes the judgments of the United Nations courts and the fact that genocide was committed against Bosniaks in Srebrenica. The position of the Slovak Republic was, among other things, confirmed by the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanar, at this year’s commemoration in Potočari.

Hloben expressed the full support of the Slovak Republic for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region is extremely important.

He reiterated his strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s membership in the EU, and emphasized that the Slovak Republic is ready to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina and transfer experience from the accession process.

The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to continue strengthening the overall cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Slovak Republic, especially in the area of political dialogue and economic ties.
