Izetbegovic JohnsonMember of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic met with the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Boris Johnson.

Izetbegovic thanked Great Britain for its support to BiH, especially when it comes to the process of Euro-Atlantic integrations. He also emphasized his belief that the United Kingdom will continue to support the process of reform in BiH and emphasized that BiH, in the context of its reforms and achieving candidate status, is committed to continue with the implementation of the measures from the Reform Agenda.

Member of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic expressed the importance of the British-German initiative and said that apart from the importance of the reform process in BiH, integration of the entire Western Balkans is crucial for our country, both for political and economic stability, as well as the security of the entire Europe. Izetbegovic condemned the terrorist attack that happened near the British Parliament in London and emphasized the commitment of BiH in the fight against terrorism and cooperation with Britain regarding this issue.

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Boris Johnson stated that even though the United Kingdom is leaving the European Union, it will not leave Europe and BiH will continue to be on the list of its foreign policy priorities. He also noted that the UK supports the commitment of BiH on its path towards membership in the European Union and NATO. He also expressed readiness to support BiH in the segment of economy and politics, especially when it comes to the implementation of the Reform Agenda and the strategic document “Defense Review” that was adopted by the Presidency of BiH. He noted the expectation that the 2nd Trade and Investment Forum that will be held in London in September this year and the Summit of the Western Balkans, as part of the Berlin process, which will be held in 2018, will further contribute to the economic development of our country and investments in BiH.

The meeting was also attended by Diana Cekic, advisor of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic and Dejan Vanjek, advisor of the member of the Presidency of BiH Dragan Covic, as announced by the Presidency of BiH.
