Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic and Member of the Presidency of BiH from the RS Mladen Ivanic discussed bilateral cooperation between BiH and Turkey with the Prime Minister of Turkey, as well as activities of BiH on its path towards European integrations, and the support of Turkey was especially noted in that segment.

During the discussion of the overall cooperation between the two countries, it was noted that economic cooperation is recording a steady increase of trade exchange and a good export-import coverage. They also added that Turkey is among the most important investors in BiH and that it is expected for this trend to be continued.

They further noted the importance of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency TIKA, which has 850 projects  in all segments in BiH, which are contributing to the development of BiH. Moreover, they also expressed gratitude to Turkey for the reconstruction of the House of Culture in Trebinje, which is a project whose value was estimated at 1 million EUR, as well as for its continuous interest in investing in important projects in BiH.

The Turkish Prime Minister conveyed interest of potential investors in sectors of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, wood industry and tourism, and it was also emphasized that there are more than 50 investors and business people in BiH whose investments exceed 300 million USD.

The infrastructure connection between Sarajevo and Belgrade was also discussed at the meeting, as well as the activities that are conducted on the project of the construction of Sarajevo-Belgrade road. Turkey is interested in intensifying cooperation with the Western Balkans countries, and the importance of finding modalities for the construction of this important infrastructure project was noted in this context, which will have great regional importance.

Another topic at the meeting was the official visit of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to BiH, and numerous bilateral agreements between the two countries should be signed on that occasion, which should give significant contribution to the further improvement of good bilateral relations between BiH and the Republic of Turkey.

Advisor Igor Planinic attended the meeting on behalf of the Croatian member of the Presidency of BiH, Dragan Covic.
