Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Sefik Dzaferovic, said that yesterday’s conclusions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (in Bosnian: NSRS), BiH entity, are extremely dangerous, in which, among other things, “peaceful separation” is advocated, which he assessed as a euphemism for new attempts to redraw borders and endanger peace.
Dzaferovic thinks that yesterday’s NSRS session proves that there are still policies that, even after genocide and other mass crimes, still want to bring BiH and its peace into question.
“Their threats of disintegration and separation remind of the messages of war criminal Radovan Karadzic that he once sent from the Assembly of the Republic of BiH, and this is how they should be understood. My message to them is not to play with fire. BiH existed long before Dayton and will exist even without Dayton. Those who threatened today with the unilateral demolition of Dayton should know that in that case, only what was created in Dayton will be broken, more precisely the entities,” this member of the BiH Presidency pointed out yesterday.
He assessed that yesterday’s conclusions of the NSRS on the Office of the High Representative (OHR) are legally invalid because the entity assembly does not have the mandate to decide on the position of the OHR. He believes that such messages must only be a reason to continue the mission and intensify the OHR’s engagement through the reactivation of the Bonn powers.
“I call on the Peace Implementation Council and the state witnesses of the Dayton Peace Agreement to take the situation in BiH very seriously after today’s announcements from Banja Luka because this is a strike to the foundations of BiH which can seriously endanger peace and stability,” Sefik Dzaferovic concluced yesterday, as was announced from his office.
Zeljko Komsic, the member of the Presidency of BiH said yesterday while commenting on the statements of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, that Dodik’s latest calls are just a continuation of the genocidal policy, considering the fact that he refers to the Assembly that made political decisions on genocide implementation. To recall, RS political and military officials were convicted of genocide based on those decisions.
He stressed that this time it will not pass because all those who love the state of BiH are stronger for one great generational experience, and genocidal policy does not have the means to implement this – “moreover, in two days they would experience a complete debacle.”
“If he wants to see the disappearance of RS, let him try to implement what he mentioned. Since I am sure that he does not want that, it would be better for Dodik to get back to solving the real problems of the citizens, and not for us to have to discuss his outbursts,” Komsic told, as was announced from his office.
