tunnelThe Memorial complex “Tunnel D-B” in Sarajevo is being mostly visited by foreigners from all parts of the world during the summer tourist season. Those are mostly Slovenians, Italians, English, Chinese, Arabs, Turks, Midhat Karić, a guide in the Memorial Complex “Tunnel D-B” told FENA.

He emphasized this memorial complex has been visited from 400 to 500 people per day in the last ten days.

”Visits to ‘Tunnel D-B’ have been increasing because there are more tourists. Tourists can see a film here on siege of Sarajevo, building of the tunnel, authentic images on use of the tunnel at the time, then go through 30 meters of authentic part of the tunnel. Everything is authentic as it was then”, emphasized Karić.

Visitors can also see the museum exhibit, documents, projects and one part of the exhibit on the first president of BiH Alija Izetbegović.

”We also have a demonstrative minefield for the visitors, and what is new is that we made new video rooms and we can now receive more than 200 visitors”, emphasized Karić.

He added that tourists are mostly interested in building of the tunnel and they want to hear about siege of Sarajevo.

Memorial complex “Tunnel d-B” is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the last entry is at 16.30 hours. Tickets cost 5 BAM for students and 10 BAM for adults.

Memorial complex “Tunnel D-B” is also known as “The Tunnel of Salvation”, because that was its mission for the citizens of Sarajevo during siege in the 90s. It served for delivery of basic supplies for survival of Sarajevans.
