Reports of explosive devices placed in Sarajevo schools were false, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior said yesterday night.

“The examinations that have been completed so far have established that they are false reports. The activities of police officers are still ongoing in order to complete the KDZ examinations at all locations,” the cantonal Interior Ministry said, after numerous Sarajevo schools received reports of explosive devices placed.

“Checks carried out in a number of schools in Sarajevo Canton showed that these were false reports, while in most schools and institutions, checks are still being carried out,” said the Canton Sarajevo Prime Minister Edin Forto at a press conference in Sarajevo.

“Nothing has been found so far and we expect it won’t be. Any threat is taken seriously,” Forto said.

He appealed to all citizens, as well as the media, not to publish unverified information and to contact the competent institutions first.

CS Police Commissioner Nusret Selimovic told a press conference that there was a possibility of terrorism.

“According to the information available so far, everything indicates that this could be a criminal act of terrorism, which will be treated in this way,” Selimovic said.

He added that the Federal Police Administration, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office, will be the bearer of activities aimed at shedding light on the perpetrators of this crime.

The Minister of Education of CS, Naida Hota-Muminovic, said that the reports covered 110 schools, ie 18 thousand students.

“Prescribed measures have been taken in schools. Students and staff have left schools. Principals will later make decisions on the teaching regime,” Hota-Muminovic said, BHRT writes.
