Hajraga KuloIn the night from the 4th to 5th of April, the first police officer laid his life for the defense of Sarajevo.

Golden Police Badge and a hero – Hajraga Kulo was born on the 1st of May 1965 in Petrovici, the Municipality of Olovo. He was also buried at the local cemetery as well… He became the active police officer in 1986.

His colleagues and friends remembered him as a decent, honest and brave police officer who gave his life for the defense of Sarajevo and BiH. He was posthumously awarded with the Golden Police Badge.

Instead of joy and celebration, the Day of Liberation of Sarajevo on the 6th of April 1992 became a day of mass crimes over the city, but also the day of national revolt and resistance. It should also be noted that the 6th of April 1992 was the continuation of the drama that started on the 4th of April with the division of Special Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In the night from 4th to 5th of April 1992 in the settlement of Krtelji at Ilidza, where was located a special unit of the former Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republic of BiH, during the arrival at the point that was put there by Serbian volunteers, Hajraga Kulo, active police officer of the then Station of Public Safety in Novi Grad Sarajevo, was killed from ambush and his colleague Miralem Ganic was wounded.

Thus, Kulo became the first police officer who gave his life for the defense of Sarajevo.
