Family members, representatives of the “Association of parents of murdered children of the besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995 Sarajevo”, Municipality Centar and the citizens of Sarajevo today marked the 23rd anniversary of the murder of who children, Aida Grozdinac and Eldin Gvozdjar, in the former Sarajevo street Dobrovoljacka.
On this day in 1992, the children of Sarajevo headed towards the shelter in the local community Skenderija for a play event, but Aida (Fahrudin) Grozdinac (1981-1992) and eldin (Nijaz) Gvozdjar (1983-1992) never made it to the play.
The aggressors shot a grenade from Trebevic, which killed Aida and Eldin.
“It is one in a number of evidence that the aggressors intentionally killed children as well”, said the President of the Association of parents of murdered children of the besieged Sarajevo Fikret Grabovica.
Aida’s mother, Jasmina Grozdinac, said that nothing can comfort her.
“The children are gone; there has been no justice for 23 years. As time goes by, it is getting harder. Even when the justice would come, the pain of the parents would remain”, Grozdinac said.
The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality Centar Mustafa Resic pointed out that today’s gathering demonstrated that the intensity of pain, sadness, and memory last, and will last until the end of the world.
“This is one among over a hundred localities in Sarajevo which record and testify of the crime in which more than 1.600 children were killed in Sarajevo with grenades and snipers from the aggressors’ positions”, Resic said.
For him, Resic said, there is no doubt – the manner of killing the children, during play, in the school, at the squares, in the parks, speaks of a planned, organized, programmed criminal activity, the genocide against the children of Sarajevo.
