The Muslim Charitable Society “Merhamet” donated 125 tons of meat from Eid al-Adha to the Syrian refugees who found shelter at the territory of the Republic of Turkey. This donation included 7,500 packages of Eid meat from Australia which the Humanitarian Organization “Merhamet” Muslim Charitable Society, in cooperation with “Merhamet” from Australia, provided during this year’s campaign “Kurban”.
The Eid meat from Australia has been transported by ship in five containers to the port in the Turkish city of Mersin, from where it was delivered to five locations where the refugee camps for Syrian refugees are located: two containers to the city of Hatay (Hatay Yayladag) and one container to each of the cities Kilis, Gaziantep and Šanliurfa.
The delivery of Eid meat to the Syrian refugees in Turkey was attended by the Secretary General of the HO “Merhamet” MDD Sidik Aždahić, and this great “Merhamet” campaign in that country was implemented with the help of AFAD and the Red Crescent of Turkey, the long-term partners of “Merhamet”.
Extraordinary and selfless support to the “Merhamet” campaign was also provided by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Turkey Damir Džanko.
“These valuable donations were provided by ‘Merhamet’ thanks to the solidarity of the citizens of B&H who, for the umpteenth time, gave their trust to this humanitarian organization and donated Eid meat for the refugees from Syria. On this occasion, we would like to thank them once again,” said the President of the HO “Merhamet” MDD Hajrudin Šahić.
