sarajevska_zimaOn the occasion of the inauguration of the XXX International Festival Sarajevo “Sarajevska Zima”, General Director of UNESCO Irina Bokova sent a message to organizers of this festival.

“The global mandate to promote cultural diversity and dialogue for lasting peace as well as commitment to preserve cultural heritage of SEE, and UNESCO is pleased to once again be connected with this prestigious international festival.

I would like to congratulate the International Center for Peace in Sarajevo and the Director, Ibrahim Spahić for the organization of the 30th edition of this festival.

For decades Mr. Spahic has delighted the audience with various programs, as well as with memorable performances consisting of a creative spirit of humanity and universal aspiration for mutual understanding.

In this regard, let me also express my special honor to this year’s guests countries, Greece and the Republic of Korea. This festival was created as a cultural counterpart to the Winter Olympic Games. “Sarajevska Zima” has become a leading regional event, bringing together a wide range of artists, who work in different ways, but they are united in their commitment to artistic creativity. I would like to express my gratitude to all the artists from B&H and from many other countries, who with their talent and vision, contributed to this festival, making it a time and place for dialogue, mutual understanding and reconciliation. I wish you a very successful and enjoyable festival”, said Irina Bokova in her message.
