**Title: Mexicans Set World Record with Longest Torta Sandwich**

**Mexico City, July 31, 2024** — In a spectacular culinary achievement, Mexicans have set a new world record by creating the longest torta sandwich ever made. The colossal sandwich, stretching an impressive 74 meters (243 feet), was unveiled in a festive event in Mexico City, drawing crowds of enthusiastic spectators and food lovers.

Organized by the local government and the Mexican Chamber of the Bread and Bakery Industry, the event took place in the bustling Zócalo square. Hundreds of bakers, chefs, and volunteers worked together meticulously to assemble the gigantic torta, a beloved Mexican sandwich typically filled with a variety of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and sauces.

“We are thrilled to have set this new record,” said event coordinator Maria Lopez. “This achievement not only showcases our rich culinary heritage but also brings our community together in a celebration of Mexican culture and flavors.”

The mammoth torta featured a variety of traditional fillings, including carnitas (slow-cooked pork), milanesa (breaded beef cutlet), and chorizo, complemented by fresh avocado, tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños. The sandwich was garnished with a blend of local sauces and condiments, adding to its authentic taste.

The previous record for the longest torta was held by a similar event in Mexico in 2019, where a sandwich measuring 72 meters (236 feet) was created. This year’s effort surpassed that mark by two meters, cementing Mexico’s place in the Guinness World Records once again.

Thousands of attendees had the opportunity to sample the record-breaking sandwich, with portions distributed to the crowd shortly after the official measurement was taken. Proceeds from the event were donated to local food banks and charities, adding a philanthropic element to the festive occasion.

“The torta is more than just a sandwich; it’s a symbol of our culinary diversity and creativity,” said renowned Mexican chef Enrique Olvera, who participated in the event. “Creating this record-breaking torta is a testament to our passion for food and our commitment to celebrating Mexican gastronomy.”

The successful record attempt was celebrated with live music, traditional dances, and an array of other Mexican culinary delights, making it a day to remember for all who attended. As the longest torta sandwich in the world, this achievement stands as a delicious and monumental testament to Mexican ingenuity and cultural pride.
