The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has postponed his announced visit to Montenegro, Podgorica Vijesti announced on Sunday.

According to the newspaper’s official information from the top of the Montenegrin government, the reason for postponing the visit to Montenegro, as confirmed by the newspaper, is the adoption of the Resolution on genocide in the Jasenovac, Dachau and Mauthausen camps in the Montenegrin parliament.

The news reminds that the president of the European Council was supposed to be in Montenegro on July 2 and 3, at the invitation of the country’s president, Jakov Milatović.

In addition to the meeting with Milatović in Cetinje and statements to the public, Michel was supposed to address the Montenegrin parliament on Wednesday, when a special session of the first regular session was scheduled, reports Hina.

On Friday, the Parliament of Montenegro, at the initiative of the pro-Serbian and pro-Russian right, adopted a resolution on the genocide in the system of Jasenovac, Dachau and Mauthausen camps.

The resolution was supported by 41 representatives of the government, while the opposition and a part of the ruling representatives left the hall. Thus, almost half of the total of 81 representatives did not participate in the vote on the resolution.
