Dragan Primorac, however, will not be the first to submit his candidacy for the President of the Republic of Croatia to the State Election Commission (SEC), Zoran Milanović, the current president who is seeking a second term, will do so before him.

Milanović, who is supported by the SDP and its partners, will present his candidacy tomorrow, December 3 at 9:30 a.m. at Visoko 15, the SEC announced on Monday.

Back on Monday morning, it seemed that Primorac, backed by HDZ and its partners, would be the first to submit his candidacy, on Wednesday, December 4 at 10 a.m., but just before noon, the SEC received an announcement that Milanović would come the day before.

Primorac boasted today that he had collected more than 100,000 signatures in just three days. By Wednesday, their number, that is, whether they are all valid, will be checked by the SEC.

Out of 14 potential presidential candidates, so far only three have announced their arrival at the SEC. In addition to Milanović and Primorac, the independent Dražen Pilić did the same, arriving on Tuesday, December 10 at 6 p.m.

The deadline for applications to arrive is midnight, December 10. After that deadline, the SEC has 48 hours to verify the validity of the signatures and publish the list of candidates for the President of the Republic, and when it does so, the official election campaign will begin, which lasts until midnight, December 27 (Friday), when the election silence begins.

On Saturday, December 28 and Sunday, December 29, until the polls close, any publicity, publication or evaluation of the results is prohibited. Sunday, December 29, is the day when the eighth presidential election will be held.

In order to prevent crowds during the submission of candidacies, and especially in view of the need to verify the validity of the collected signatures, the SEC invited candidates and parties who propose them to announce their arrival in advance by sending a completed notification form available on the SEC’s website.
