During the first day of the Munich Security Conference, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic expressed his belief that Montenegro will become a full member of the European Union (EU) by 2028.

Milatovic spoke with Czech President Petr Pavel and expressed his special gratitude that the EU enlargement policy is continuously in the Czech Republic’s focus, the Cabinet of the Montenegrin President announced.

The announcement stated that Milatovic also spoke with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and emphasized his commitment to strengthening the credibility of Montenegro as a member of the Alliance.

“I invited Stoltenberg to visit Montenegro,” stated Milatovic.

And Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said yesterdaythat Montenegro can occupy the vacant seat of the 28th member of the EU in 2028, indicating that EU accession must be based on strengthening the rule of law and increasing inclusion in the single common market of Europe, it was announced earlier by the Government of Montenegro.
