While the mobilization and positioning of units and weapons of Russia on the one hand, and the NATO member on the other, continues, the concern for Ukraine is growing. Military analyst Nedzad Ahatovic warns that Russia’s strategy of using military force does not fit into the existing patterns of military action, because it insists on speed, especially in the first phase of the conflict in order to achieve strategic goals as soon as possible.
Hybrid guerrilla
”What NATO hopes for is just the opposite, that is, dragging the Russian Federation into the “mud” and waging an endless war, where the close armed struggle will come to the fore, especially anti-armor, which is why large quantities of anti-tank guided missiles and unconventional type of war are being delivered to Ukraine. This reminds of the low–intensity war that United States (U.S.) troops experienced in Iraq during that long conflict, ” mentioned Ahatovic.
If it happens, he added, the Russian military operation will be extreme in every sense – from the speed of the operation and the speed of the assault of ground forces to the volume of fire support from land, sea, and air.
”But also in the speed of withdrawal from the fight of Russian regular forces and taking over further combat operations by Russian rebels in Ukraine, ie private security companies such as the groups Wagner, Vega, and Patriot. It is conducting military operations within the hybrid war from the so-called gray zones, where official troops are used only in the initial phase of the conflict in blitz “peace” operations, whose range is further provided by the so-called “hybrid guerrillas”, ie mercenary military units and local rebel forces – all related to the intelligence system, ” added Ahatovic.
Russian “satellites”
Whether the situation in the Balkans could escalate if there is a conflict in Ukraine depends on NATO’s behavior.
”If the logistical support to Ukraine is continued, Russian “satellites” can very easily start destabilizing Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in order to stretch NATO in depth in a strategic sense and remove the focus from supporting Ukraine, ” explained Ahatovic.
