minersWorkers in the mine Stranjani near Zenica, which operates within the Black Coal Mines Zenica, worked in full capacity today. While the tons of coal dug out by the hardworking miners were arriving on a conveyor belt, the miners did a much bigger gesture on the surface.

Workers of the Black Coal Mine Stranjani renounced their Eid lunch that they were given by Šefika Topić from Switzerland and with a joint decision they donated the planned funds for treatment of miners’ children. Children of Damir Hrnjić, Zekerijah Fetić and Mirnas Babić today got the money that will help them in their treatment from Šefika and other good people.

“Thanks to everyone who participated in this and I want to congratulate Eid to them. My child suffers from cerebral paralysis and this will really help us a lot,” said Hrnjić today.

The miner Zekerijah Fetić thanked everyone who decided to implement this action and said that they are encountering big issues due to their children’s illness.

“We are surprised because this is not what we are used to. We are used to provide the necessary funds with our own hands, working fair. This is truly a special Eid for us,” Fetić added.

One of the implementers and those who launched this idea is the miner Mehmed Dizdarević. He said that this is a special Eid for him.

“This action was a gift from God. After our donor saw a picture of us having iftar in the mine, she expressed the wish to organize an iftar for the miners. I suggested the iftar for one shift and 43 miners had iftar, after which she was speechless and suggested an Eid lunch as well. We realized that a lot of food would go to waste because we would not be able to eat all of that, so we decided, unanimously, to implement this action in this way and direct the money where it is needed,” Dizdarević said.

The miners decided to call the media and hand over the money publicly because of transparency and the desire to wake up the hearts of other good people who are able to help others.
