Minister Delic: We Are Working Together To Resolve The Status Issues Of Police Officers From 1997-1998

The Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Adnan Delic, met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo (CS), Admir Katic, as well as representatives of this Ministry and the CS Police Administration, to discuss resolving the remaining status issues concerning police officers’ pension rights.

These are police officers who now meet the conditions for retirement but are unable to submit their applications due to the absence of individual contribution payments for the period of 1996 and 1997. During that period, institutions made collective contribution payments, whereas current regulations require individual registration and payments for each employee, which now creates administrative difficulties in calculating their service time.

Minister Delic emphasized that the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, in cooperation with the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Institute and the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs, will work on finding an adequate solution to enable these police officers to exercise the rights they have earned.

“These are people who have spent their working lives in the service of citizens’ and the state’s security. It is our obligation, in coordination with all competent institutions, to ensure that administrative obstacles are not a reason for delayed or denied access to pension rights,” Minister Delic stated during the meeting.
