Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry will do everything to ensure that no workers are laid off in the sector overseen by the ministry, which employs 25,000 workers, said Minister Nermin Džindić, Fena news agency reports.

He said the ministry is closely monitoring 27 companies.

“We are already coordinating, on a daily basis, with all directors and supervisory boards. Plans are being made for how to work in these circumstances, the number of workers needed to work without the virus spreading,” Džindić explained.

Speaking about the mining sector, he pointed out that the system ”14 +14” is still in force.

“Miners work 14 days continuously and for the next 14, they are partially isolated. It is their great sacrifice and the mining and energy sector for all of us to have a secure electricity supply,” Džindić emphasized.

He stated that 2,000 of the 3,100 workers in the dedicated industry are not working at the moment and that the FBiH Government, together with the Ministry and the companies’ administrations, have agreed that all salaries will be paid to the workers.

“The salaries have been secured for the coming period. There will be no layoffs in the military industry,” Džindić said.
