The BiH Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija received in Sarajevo yesterday the General Secretary of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
Minister Lagumdžija stressed the need for BiH for direct investments, especially OIC member states, and is interested in the use of soft loans for the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development of the OIC for the necessary economic development in BiH.
General Secretary Ihsanoglu thanked Lagumdžija for the cooperation and expressed the expectation that the OIC will continue to support BIH, especially In the area of economic development and multiculturalism of our country, as well as the relations with the OIC and BIH and how it should further develop in the future.
Lagumdžija informed the General Secretary of the political and economic situation in BiH and the ongoing reform processes in order to fulfill the foreign policy priorities of BiH, NATO membership and the EU.
They expressed the importance of focusing on bilateral relations between BiH and OIC and the exchange of opinions on the current state in the Middle East, with a particular emphasis on the events in Syria and Palestine.
In this context, Lagumdžija said that BiH named a non-residential Ambassador for Palestine, and said that BiH is a member of the working group for Syria and stands for a peaceful resolution to the civil war in Syria with respect to the territorial integrity of the state.
