Bosnia and Herzegovina is about to sign the membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO), as confirmed by Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic.
When it comes to negotiations on WTO membership, Russia, Brazil, and Ukraine made certain conditions for our accession including different customs tariffs that they demanded to be removed, in order for these countries to place their products on the market of BiH.
Negotiations with Russia are in the final stage, we already completed this process with Ukraine, and we are also negotiating with Brazil. Minister Sarovic explained that he met with Senator of the National Congress of Brazil Helio Jose in Sarajevo, with whom he discussed the completion of negotiations between BiH and Brazil as members of the WTO.
“When it comes to discussion with one of the most influential senators of Brazil and expert in the field of energy and environment, I can say that we are very close to reaching an agreement with Brazil, and we also had the final round of negotiations and we were assured that this question is resolved,” noted Minister Sarovic.
According to him, he took this opportunity to talk about the conditions that Brazil set for our country on its way to becoming a member of the WTO.
“After this agreement, we have only the final negotiations with Russia. I am optimistic and I hope that we will achieve a progress in the next few weeks and will be able to bring some good news to the public,” stated Minister Sarovic.
