”The Ministers of Internal Affairs in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) guarantee peace and security to the citizens of BiH, and condemn the statements of all individuals calling for the violation of the constitutional and legal structure of BiH, ” it was concluded yesterday at the first working meeting of the Coordination of Interior Ministers in FBiH which was organized by the Federal Minister, Aljosa Campara.

“Police structures in the FBiH will not fall for the warmongering messages of SNSD President Milorad Dodik, ie they will not become partners of SNSD in raising tensions and destabilizing BiH. Ministers of internal affairs emphasized that the security apparatus of FBiH is capable of using state security apparatus to oppose the manifestations of punishable behavior, even those directed against the constitutional order, and call on the police structures and the competent judicial bodies to prevent any incidents that are intended to be caused by destructive behavior,” it was noted in the statement.

Further, it was concluded at the meeting that the migrant crisis is a problem of all levels of government in BiH and that it should not be allowed that only certain parts suffer the pressures caused by the migrant crisis.

“The ministers of the internal affairs are determined to alleviate the pressures they face through joint cooperation and initiating the exchange of human capacities, and thus help ministries of internal affairs who bear the greatest burden of the migrant crisis. The ministers of the internal affairs call on the competent state bodies to better manage the migrant crisis and take care of interests of local units, ” it was added in this statement.

Police reform in the FBiH will be continued, the ministerial meeting concluded, and the United States (U.S.) Embassy and the Office of the High Representative (OHR) of the International Community will be asked to be actively involved in this process.

It was decided at the meeting that work will be done on drafting bylaws that will lead to strengthening and depoliticization of the security system in the FBiH, as well as on more transparent competition procedures for admission of police officers, which includes video and audio recording of all stages of the competition. It includes a test of physical abilities, electronic generation of exam questions, and development of binding instructions for members of the competition committee.

Also, the ministers agreed to consult with directors and police commissioners of police administrations, and to propose budget increases to governments and legislatures in order to strengthen police administrations in terms of human capacity, material-technical and coercive means, all with the aim of providing a greater degree of security to the citizens of BiH.
