Ministry of Economy plans to plant Half a Million Seedlings in Sarajevo

A large afforestation action in the Sarajevo Canton started today with actions at several locations, and the plan is to plant half a million seedlings in the next period.

This is an action that was adopted by the Government of Canton Sarajebo on the initiative of the Ministry of Economy, and the realization is planned in two phases, ie actions during the fall and spring.

KJP “Sarajevo-sume” is in charge of the realization and supervision of the project.

Today, afforestation is carried out at two locations, in the area of ​​Grdonje in the municipality of Stari Grad and in the wider area of ​​Srednji, municipality of Ilijas.

The actions are carried out by the hunting associations “Sarajevo” and “Srednje”. The line cantonal minister Adnan Delic joined the participants in the action on Grdonja and pointed out that this is an extremely important action of mass afforestation of the wider area of ​​Sarajevo Canton.

“We live in a time of great global challenges when it comes to environmental protection and climate change. Air pollution is increasing, and one of our goals is to plant as many seedlings as possible in order to make our forest better, which is able to absorb these negative particles. Our goal is to develop awareness of environmental protection, protection of forests, which cover 64 percent of the territory of Sarajevo Canton, “said Delic.

Emphasizing that the afforestation action also has an educational character, Delic said that the plan is to include educational institutions with the idea of ​​taking pupils and students to the field to plant trees for their future and to develop their awareness of the importance of all forest functions.

The central gathering is planned for November 25, on the Statehood Day of BiH, and Delic said that in this way they want to strengthen awareness of the importance of statehood and the homeland.
