In the coming season, Mirza Teletović, currently a member of Phoenix Suns, will most probably play in some other NBA team and we will also watch him in qualifications for the European Championship in Basketball. What is not common knowledge is that the captain of the BiH team invests in BiH the money he earned while playing in Europe and USA.
Together with his family, Teletović launched the construction of two small hydro power plants on the Doljanka River.
“Jablanica is a small town and many people leave because they want a job and a better life. I want to invest money in my town, in order to help everyone as much as I can. I cannot employ all the unemployed, but I want to work on a project that will be beneficial for everyone. Project of the construction of mini hydro power plants passed all necessary checks and I, as a man who invests the money, believe I am doing a good thing. Time will show. I am sure that my town will benefit from this, because annual income for the Jablanica Municipality only on the basis of compensation will amount to over 50.000 BAM, and the law stipulates that this amount is divided among local communities. That is not an unimportant thing and that is not the only income that small centrals generate,” Teletović said.
Furthermore, Teletović said: “I want to return to Jablanica with my family and I want my children to live in the city where I was born. I believe my country has a future and I want to prove to my children that there is perspective in BiH”.
Regarding the letters sent by the Council of the local community Doljani where it was stated that the project of constructing mini hydro power plants jeopardizes the survival of local population and the ecosystem of the area, Teletović said:
“As I already said, everything was done in accordance with the law and there are no obstacles for implementing this project. The company Eko-Vat provided all necessary documentation and all residents of the Local Community Doljani are informed about the project. Several meeting were organized with residents of both local communities and everything was transparent. Those who still doubt the benevolence of this project can visit the company Eko-Vat and check whatever they are interested in. I repeat, I do not want to throw a stain on my name in any way. Instead, I want to provide better living conditions in my town”.
According to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of FBiH and experts in the field of electricity production, mini hydro power plants have a series of advantages over the large one. Primarily, they have a minimum negative impact on the ecosystem. These power plants do not flood fertile land, they do not relocate population. In turn, they significantly contribute to the development of agricultural activity in underdeveloped and remote areas.
Construction of small hydro power plants Pačići and Zlate on the Doljanka River will satisfy the environmental and spatial criteria and authentic appearance of nature will be preserved. Total investment in these two mini hydro power plants amounts to around 10 million BAM.
