The newly constructed Border Crossing Ivanica in the Municipality Ravno in Herzegovina was officially opened with messages of commitment to the stronger connection of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the area of Dubrovnik.

The Southernmost border crossing of BiH to the European Union has four lanes and the most modern infrastructure that is needed for a faster flow of people and goods. Its construction cost 2 million BAM, and it was announced that it is expected from Croatia to modernize the border crossing from its side as well.

“It should be especially noted that Ivanica is a border crossing through which are exported agricultural products to Croatia, and thus to the European Union,” said Miro Dzakula, the Director of the Indirect Taxation Authority.

Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Dragan Covic, cut the ceremonial ribbon on the renovated border crossing, who stated that Ivanica is giving the European dimension to BiH and he also expressed the commitment for BiH to finish all border crossings as planned.

He also expects that Croatia will complete its part of the job by the end of the summer next year and that BC Ivanica will serve for a much better connection between cities of Dubrovnik and Trebinje.

“Dubrovnik is the most important tourist center in Europe, and I am afraid that we are not using the vicinity of Dubrovnik enough,” stated Covic.

“Trebinje can build its development strategy on this border crossing,” stated Chairman Covic.

Mayor of Dubrovnik Mato Frankovic said that the faster and better communication and movement of people from Ivanica and Dubrovnik, where most of this population works, is in their interest.
