More than 200 humanitarian Workers have been killed in Gaza

More than 200 humanitarian workers have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, and Gaza is no longer a safe area for anyone, said Yasmina Guerda of the United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

At the weekly press conference of the UN Office in Geneva, Guerda shared her experiences after a three-month service in Gaza, which is under intense Israeli attacks.

Stating that the situation in Gaza is so bad that it cannot be measured by numbers, Guerda said that many people have been displaced and the residents of the blockaded enclave cannot meet their food, shelter, health and other needs.

“In Gaza, I heard and saw stories firsthand that will haunt me for the rest of my life,” Guerda said.

More than 37,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7 last year, most of them women and children, and around 86,000 have been wounded, according to local health authorities.

Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Israeli authorities to immediately halt their military operation in the southern city of Rafah.
